RIGHT now, I feel like visiting every SuccessDigest Extra! reader and having a heart-to-heart discussion with them.

You know that type of feeling, when you want to be alone with someone you care about, where the two of you can pour out your hearts without being disturbed.

Why am I feeling this way? Because I sense a need, in fact an urgent urge, to do so. You see, the sort of stories that are flying about now, especially about the economy, is not too good.

Except for a very few people who understand what is going on and know what to do about it, the rest majority of the population have no clue. And that majority include the highly educated ones and politicians because this has nothing to do with how educated you are or whether you’re a senator.

As I’m unable to get your attention otherwise, my dear SDE! Reader, I’m resorting to sharing this private information with you on the pages of our paper.

You see, news about the world economy being in bad shape is not exaggerated. Just how bad is it? Let me give you an example.

Only a few months ago, crude oil was selling in the region of an all-time high price of $140 per barrel. Today, it is edging closer to $30 than to $40. In case you don’t get the enormity of that fall in price, that is the equivalent of having your N140,000 per month salary shrink by more than N100,000 to only N40,000 as your take home pay at the end of the month.

And with your monthly salary representing more than 70% of your total monthly income, you know what you’re up against in order to maintain your current lifestyle.

I can understand why government won’t put it as bluntly as I’m laying it out for you here. They don’t want to cause a panic. But that will not stop you from adding two plus two and arriving at your own answer.

The only problem with that is that unlike the sum of your arithmetic, two plus two may not give you four in economic matters, such as we are dealing with here.

When people are left to come to their own conclusions, they have the tendency of going for the wrong one. For instance, you may come to the conclusion that danger is looming and start to panic and act with fear.

That is a destination I definitely don’t want you to ever arrive at, hence I’m writing this piece to you.

True, the roads ahead are rough. But the answer to it is not fear. Instead of fear, you should choose knowledge. Fear will cause you to freeze and put your creative ability to survive on hold. Knowledge will empower you, leading you to finding a way of escape.

What sort of knowledge do you need at this time?

One of them is the knowledge of GOD.

Now, don’t laugh at this suggestion as most people who lack understanding do, which makes them to live in fear and endure avoidable stress.

No one is more relaxed on earth than I’m today. And that is not because of any other reason than the fact that I’ve a Father in Heaven who is my ONLY Source. He’s my Provider and my Protector.

How do you get to know GOD?

First, you should identify those who know GOD by the fruits they bear and make them your Spiritual Guides. I discovered that having Spiritual Guides has helped me tremendously in my Christian journey.

Second, apply yourself to the teachings of your Spiritual Guides. Take extra care to compare what they teach you with what is in the Bible. Then third –– and this is the most important of the three steps under this heading –– act on the Word of GOD. Yes, give GOD’s Word the first place in every area of your life. Do whatever the Word of GOD asks you to do. Be obedient to Him.

As an entrepreneur, this is an indispensable knowledge. You must be desperate for it. You’ll find my book, How to Bullet Proof Yourself from Poverty, of great help in your quest to understand GOD.

The second vital knowledge that you must acquire is to know what causes money to come to you.

Knowing exactly what to do to cause money to flow into your bank account is absolutely indispensable. When you have this knowledge, you’ll never panic about money again. This knowledge puts you totally in control of your life and makes you a master over money. The freedom you’ll enjoy if you acquire this knowledge is immeasurable.

Money can flow into your bank account through five legitimate channels:

[1] Inheritance;

[2] Marrying a wealthy man or woman;

[3] Winning a lottery;

[4] Begging for it under any guise, aka “fine bara” and

[5] Selling a product or a service.

Of the lot, the only one you have full control over is the fifth one. The first three channels are a game of chance and so unpredictable. And the fourth channel is not always dignifying. That leaves you with only one channel, the one that all those who have ever become rich legitimately took advantage of.

The good news is that you can learn the art of selling a product or service. As a matter of fact, teaching this knowledge is what our NGO –– Success Attitude Development Centre –– has been doing these past 14 years.

I’m truly excited that you’re already working towards acquiring this knowledge by being a regular reader of this publication. My appeal to you –– the reason I was pressed to talk to you –– is that no matter what happens, no matter how bleak the world economy turns out to be, never give up your dream of mastering this knowledge.

The temptation to give it up, especially at this point in time, is very strong. If, for example, you tried your hands at cassava farming, stock market investing, multi-level marketing, Internet marketing etc and you have not made headway, my appeal to you still is: don’t give up!

Why? Because if you give up, the price you’ll pay for doing so is too heavy.

If you give up, how will you be able to pay for your retirement when you grow old? Okay, maybe that is too far ahead of you for now, but if you ask me, this is the time to start thinking of that time because surely it will arrive. And it will come at you faster than you think.

Let’s set aside retirement issue for a moment and talk about so many other things you need money for even now. If you’re not married, you’ll need money to do so. If you’re married and have children, you will have to pay for your children’s school fees. And you’ve to keep putting food on the table for them as you can never fast round the clock all through the year.

Unless you’ve built your own house, you will have to pay the landlord when your next rent is due and if the house belongs to you, you’ve to keep maintaining it otherwise it will collapse over your head sooner or later. Now you see why you need this knowledge.

Yes, I agree with you, disappointment is always around the corner when you’re working at acquiring this knowledge. No one, not even those you look up as “having it all,” got to that place without having to deal with similar setbacks.

Take my case for example. At one time I was telling you about how multi-level marketing business was great and I promoted Tianshi vigorously because I believed in it. But at the end of the day, I got stuck in Level Six and had to quit the programme, losing quite a sizeable amount of money in the process.

As I write this, I still have six Massagers –– yes, SIX –– in my store that are gathering dust. Each one costs roughly N80,000.

I also got so excited about the Cassava dream and shared my excitement with you. Right now, in a place called Igbo Ora, my friends and I have cassava that we couldn’t sell buried in the ground. I lost tons of money in that project.

Although I strictly didn’t invest in the stock market for quick returns, if I ever need the money I invested in some of the stocks today, I would be losing more than 70% of what I paid for some of them. And the figure runs into millions.

Despite these obvious setbacks, you’ll never find me talking of giving up. Why? Because I know that out of every disappointment there is an opportunity lurking somewhere.

Let me cite just one example: SuccessDigest came after our horrible experience with Climax magazine. How would we have been able to record the successes we have experienced with SuccessDigest if we allowed the painful disappointment we experienced with Climax to discourage us to the point of giving up?

That is the point I desperately want to put across to you.

Some of you are feeling disappointed and discouraged because you’ve not seen the result you’re hoping for. But this is not the time throw in the towel. Yes, I know it’s tough. But you must hang in there.

Every failure takes you closer to your success. That is what I learnt from those who guided me to where I’m today. And true to their teachings, I found what they taught me to be correct. You’ll discover the same truth if don’t quit.

Obviously there is something that is still missing. You and I must keep probing until we discover that thing and put it in place.
